'Unwrapping Yrjö Edelmann' guides you through the artistic journey of the man who astonished the world with his hyper-realistic trompe l’œil paintings. From Edelmann’s early days as an illustrator, to his first experiments in photorealism, and on to the iconic paper and parcel motifs that became his signature — this is a portrait of an artist who blurred the line between illusion and reality.

As an artist, Yrjö Edelmann navigates the borderland between illusion and reality. The same goes for the book cover: in the luxury box edition we see a package that is a painting, which, in reality, is a book. The cover serves as a canvas for one of Yrjö’s most significant works, a package in his favourite colour and without a title to maintain the illusion. The back of the book further reinforces this image – here we see the canvas affixed to the frame. It embodies a classic trompe l’oeil and pays homage to both the artist and the creative process.
